Leashes & Harnesses

• Harnesses
  • PetSafe’s 3-in-1 Dog Harness – my personal favorite harness. Cheap, makes a HUGE difference in pullers with its chest-clip.
  • Blue-9’s Balance Harness – pricier, well-known for its customization in fitting
  • PetSafe’s Gentle Leader – head halters provide the most powerful form of leash control, however they can take longer to acclimate for dogs
  • Hatlee head halter & leash – my current halter preference, more comfortable than Gentle Leader
• Leashes
  • Basic 6 ft leashes – I prefer leashes this length with a second handle for tighter control when needed (eg; in public environments)
  • Partial-bungee leashes – I sometimes like partial bungee leashes. They provide a little more freedom for sniffing while also providing gradual leash-tension-feedback. (not recommended for hard-pullers)
  • Waist-leashes – being able to walk with both of your hands free is a blessing.
  • Long-lines – leashes that are 20-50+ feet are fantastic ways to safely train recalls, impulse-control, and general retention

Enrichment

• I love Woof Balls! These are hollowed-out balls that you fill with frozen treats. I make my own pupscicles.
• List of ingredients safe for dogs.
• Kongs – FREEZE these after stuffing them. I recommend soaking your dog’s kibble in water, then packing these. Can turn a regular meal into a 45-min activity.

  • Toughness ranges from extra soft (Purple for seniors, Blue for puppies) to extreme (Black for super-chewers)
  • 
• Snuffle-Mats – simulate scavenging through grass. Fantastic form of enrichment
• Lick-mats – very cheap and easy way to keep dogs busy, freeze them!

• Snuffle-balls – I love snuffle-balls, basically loofahs! super easy to set up and wash!
• Jolly Egg – great toy for dogs that like herding. They push the egg around continuously.
• ‘Puzzle’ Slow-Feeder Bowl – My favorite slow feeder includes multiple layers and functions. I love how effective it is and how easy it is to clean.
